strategy of complaining

Often I take my dog, Jackson, to the dog park to wear off some of this excess energy. The other day, while I was there, I overheard a couple of people complaining about their situations at work. When I left, I thought about how thoughts strengthen problems. By repeating details of poor situations over and over again, people often create more problems. I also thought about how many times I had strengthened a problem by repeatedly thinking or talking about it too.

When you think about the concept that our thoughts and feelings have creative power, complaining about something repeatedly takes on a whole new meaning – especially if you don’t do anything to alleviate the problem. While talking about our challenges is an important way of working through them, obsessing over them can end up magnetizing them more or even bring in other troubles.

If you complain or ruminate over your problems, begin looking at it like a strategy. For example, if you’re worried about paying all of your bills, you might have:

  • Obsessed about what other people have and you don’t.
  • Complained about not having enough money.
  • Stayed up nights creating worse case scenarios.
  • Created stories in your mind about how bad something is going to turn out in the future.

If your mindset ever becomes anything like this, you can get stuck. And by not taking action to resolve the problem, you contribute to the problem or create more of what you don’t want.

Now, imagine using these same strategies in a positive way – bringing more prosperity and health into your life. You might:

  • Think about what you do have and appreciate it.
  • Write down 10 things you love about your life each morning or evening.
  • Meditate on how it’s going to feel when you are debt free.
  • Ruminate over enjoying a new, higher-paying job.

By using the same strategy you used for creating problems, you can create ideas and solutions to solve them. I’ve been practicing this in one form or another for the last 20 years and it really has helped. However just thinking about it isn’t enough.

I’ve learned over the years that thinking about something without taking action usually doesn’t work. You have to do something toward the the outcome that you want and be willing to do the work.

You also have to recognize how what you want will help others, not just yourself. Maybe paying off your bills allows you to be able to spend less time worrying and more time enjoying time with your family.

We must acknowledge that we don’t always get what we want. Some things aren’t meant to be. Maybe there is something better in the works that you haven’t even thought of.

So, when you acknowledge what you say to yourself and others, what are you energizing every day to come into your life?

In Conclusion

You can use the complaints you have to view what you really want for yourself and your experiences in life.  What you think or complain about adds to your future experiences. You have a lot of control over your own life and experiences if you shift your mindset and take action toward a better outcome.
